Gluejar is a brand new project (it hasn’t even started yet) with a noble idea–the creators want to “unglue” popular books and make it publicly available for free to readers.
From the site:
Authors and publishers choose a funding goal. Book lovers chip in to meet it.
Anyone will be able to kick off a pledge drive for a favorite book on our upcoming web site unglue.it. Gluejar will work with rightsholders to determine a good price, and anyone can contribute toward meeting it. When the goal is met, rightsholders will be paid in exchange for making their works available under a Creative Commons license. The book becomes free for everyone to read and share.

Howdy! I’m the librarian at Gluejar. Thanks for your interest! If there are any books you think we should be ungluing, I’d love to hear.
Hi, Andromeda! I actually learned about you from my Copyright class–if I remember right you’ll be meeting us online next week! No books are coming to mind at the moment, (or rather, ALL the books I ever read are coming to mind at the moment) but I will definitely be letting you know if I think of a good one to unglue.
Oh, hey, I will be seeing you there tomorrow! Nice.
